Combo Brows in Valencia, CA

Can’t decide between the hair-by-hair realism of nano and the soft, filled-in look of powder brows? Combo brows are the answer — they blend both. Crisp hairstrokes through the front where you want realism, soft shading through the body and tail where you want fullness and definition. It’s the technique I reach for when someone wants natural and polished, not one or the other.

I’m Jeanny Evans, and combo brows are a favorite for clients who want the best of both worlds in a single, balanced result.

What are combo brows?

Combo brows — short for combination brows — mix two techniques in one set. I place fine, hair-like strokes at the front of the brow, where realistic detail matters most, then blend into soft powder shading through the arch and tail for density and shape. The two techniques meet seamlessly, so you get the natural look of hairstrokes with the fullness and staying power of shading.

Who combo brows suit best

Combo brows are a great fit if you want a natural front but a defined, fuller body; if you have combination skin; or if you like the idea of hairstrokes but want them to last a little longer and read a little fuller. They’re also perfect for the very common situation of simply not being able to choose — because you genuinely don’t have to.

Still deciding? Compare nano and powder / ombré brows.

What are combo brows?

Combo brows are created over two appointments — the initial session and a perfecting session a few weeks later once healed. As with any brow work, the color looks bolder at first and softens as it heals, with the true result showing at about four to six weeks. Because combo brows include shading, they tend to hold up well over time, often landing between nano and powder for longevity.

Want the best of both? Let's design your combo brows.

What are combo brows?

Combo brows combine two permanent makeup techniques: fine hairstrokes at the front of the brow for a natural look, blended into soft powder shading through the body and tail for fullness and definition. You get the realism of hairstrokes with the staying power and polish of shading, in one set.

It’s not about better — it’s about fit. Nano is the most natural and hair-like; powder is the softest and most defined, and best for oily skin; combo sits in between, giving natural detail at the front with fuller shading behind. If you can’t choose between natural and defined, combo is usually the answer.

Combo brows generally last around 2 years, often landing between nano and powder for longevity because they include shading, which tends to hold well. As with all brow work, a refresh keeps the color and shape looking their best, and your exact result depends on your skin and lifestyle.

They can work better than pure hairstrokes on oily skin, because the shaded portion holds up well where fine strokes might blur. If your skin is very oily, powder brows may still be the longest-lasting option — but combo is often a good middle ground. I’ll assess your skin honestly at your consultation.
