What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are lightweight synthetic lashes bonded one at a time to your natural lashes with a professional-grade adhesive. Unlike strip lashes, they’re semi-permanent — they move and feel like your own lashes, and they last through showers, workouts, and sleep. As your natural lashes shed and renew (which they do naturally, on a cycle), you top them up with a “fill” every few weeks.

The whole look is customized to you: your eye shape, your natural lash health, and how dramatic or subtle you want to go. A good set should never look or feel heavy — it should look like a better version of your own lashes.

Choose Your Lash Type

Most corrective work falls into a few areas — each links to its own page:

Classic lashes

Classic lashes are the most natural option: one extension applied to each of your natural lashes, for a soft, mascara-like finish. They add length and definition without much added fullness — think “your lashes, but longer and darker.”

Classic is the best starting point if it’s your first time, if you already have a decent number of natural lashes, or if you want something subtle enough for everyday and work. It’s also the quickest set to apply.

Hybrid Lashes

Hybrid lashes mix classic single lashes with volume fans, roughly half and half. The result is more texture and fullness than classic, but softer and less dramatic than a full volume set — a wispy, dimensional look that’s become one of the most requested styles.

Hybrid is ideal if classic feels a touch too subtle but full volume feels like too much, or if your natural lashes are a little sparse and you want to add fullness where it’s needed. It’s the easy “I can’t decide” answer — and often the most flattering.

Volume Lashes

Volume lashes use lightweight, handmade fans of several fine extensions — typically three to six — placed on each natural lash. That’s what creates a dense, fluffy, glamorous look with real impact, while the ultra-fine diameters keep it feeling light.

Volume is for you if you love a full, noticeable lash, if your natural lashes are sparse and you want maximum fullness, or if you simply want your eyes to make a statement. Because each fan is built by hand, a volume set takes longer to apply than classic — and it’s worth it.

Mega Volume

Mega volume takes the volume technique further, using even finer extensions to build larger fans — often ten or more lashes per fan — for the fullest, darkest, most dramatic “blackout” look possible. It’s bold, glamorous, and unmistakable.

This one’s for the client who wants the most dramatic lash in the room — for events, photoshoots, or simply as a signature look. It requires healthy natural lashes to support the fuller fans, which is something we’ll check at your appointment.

Which lash style is right for you?

The simplest way to think about it: classic is the most natural, hybrid adds soft fullness, volume is full and fluffy, and mega volume is maximum drama. Your natural lash health matters too — fuller sets need enough of your own lashes to support them, which is exactly what we check at the start. If you’re not sure, a quick consultation sorts it in minutes, and starting a little more natural is never a bad idea; you can always go fuller next time.

Keeping them looking full: lash fills

Your natural lashes shed and regrow on a natural cycle, so extensions gradually thin out over a few weeks. A fill appointment replaces the extensions that have shed with fresh ones, keeping your set looking full. Most people come in every two to three weeks for a fill, depending on their natural lash cycle and how they care for them.

Fills are quicker and more affordable than a full new set, which is what makes extensions so easy to maintain long-term. [Confirm the fill window you require, e.g. “fills within 3 weeks; after that a new full set may be needed.”]

Safe application and healthy lashes

Done properly, extensions are comfortable and safe for your natural lashes. Done badly — too heavy, poorly isolated, or with harsh adhesive — they can damage the lashes underneath. That’s why technique and training matter. At JNX, lashes are applied by [a certified lash artist — name the certification], one lash carefully isolated at a time, using quality adhesive in a clean, dedicated setting.

Your comfort and your natural lash health always come first. If your lashes aren’t healthy enough for the set you want, we’ll tell you honestly and suggest a style that protects them.

How to make your lashes last

A few simple habits keep extensions looking great for longer: keep them dry for the first 24 hours while the adhesive fully cures; avoid oil-based cleansers and makeup removers, which break down the bond; don’t rub or pick at them; brush them gently with a clean spoolie; and sleep on your back or side rather than face-down where you can. That’s most of it — they’re genuinely low-maintenance once you know the basics, and we’ll walk you through everything at your appointment.

Ready to wake up with beautiful lashes?

Whether you want a soft classic set or full mega volume, we’ll customize your lashes to your eyes and your lifestyle. Book a set or a consultation — and if you’re not sure which style suits you, that’s exactly what we’ll help you figure out.

Correction Questions Answered

What's the difference between classic, hybrid, and volume lashes?
They differ in how many extensions go on each natural lash. Classic applies one extension per lash for a natural, mascara-like look. Volume uses handmade fans of several fine extensions per lash for a full, fluffy effect. Hybrid mixes the two for soft, textured fullness in between. Mega volume takes volume further with even larger fans for maximum drama.
A full set lasts the length of your natural lash cycle — usually around six to eight weeks before it’s fully shed — but because your lashes shed gradually, most people come in for a fill every two to three weeks to keep the set looking full. With regular fills, you can maintain your lashes indefinitely.
Not when they’re applied correctly. A properly isolated, appropriately weighted set applied by a trained artist is safe for your natural lashes. Damage usually comes from extensions that are too heavy for the natural lash, poor isolation, or picking and pulling at them. That’s why technique, correct weight, and good aftercare matter — and why we assess your lash health first.

A classic full set usually takes around 90 minutes to two hours, while volume and mega volume take longer — often two to three hours — because each fan is built by hand. Fills are quicker. You relax with your eyes closed the whole time; many clients nap through it.

Pricing depends on the type of set — classic, hybrid, volume, or mega volume — and fills are priced separately from full sets. You’ll find our full, current pricing on the pricing page, and we’ll confirm everything at your appointment. → See full pricing

Yes, with a couple of adjustments. Avoid oil-based products and waterproof mascara around the eyes, since oil breaks down the adhesive. If you use eyeliner or eye makeup, choose oil-free formulas and remove them gently with an oil-free cleanser. Most people find they don’t need mascara at all once they have extensions.
